Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine is rooted in ancient Taoist philosophy which views a person as an energy system in which body and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other. Unlike conventional medicine which attempts to isolate and separate a disease from a person, Chinese Medicine emphasizes a holistic approach that treats the whole person. Many people have found Traditional Chinese methods of healing to be excellent tools for healing disease, maintaining optimum health and preventing illness. It is effective for physical, psychological and emotional problems.
Art Therapy is the therapeutic creative process facilitated by an art therapist and done with people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living, as well as by people seeking personal development. Through creating art and reflecting on the art products and processes, people can increase awareness of self and others cope with symptoms, stress and traumatic experiences; enhance cognitive abilities; and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of making art. Art therapists are professionals trained in both art and therapy.
Meditation is the practice of turning our attention to a single point of reference. It can involve focusing on the breath, on bodily sensations, or on a word or phrase known as a mantra. In meditation we turn our attention away from distracting thoughts and focus on the present moment.
Psychotherapy also called therapy, or counseling, is the process of meeting with a trained professional to address problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body) and can help you learn how to take control of your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. The rapport established with the therapist is an important part of the process. Our therapists are trained to work with a number of methods including trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic, equine therapy and cognitive behavior therapy.
